NRPA Youth Program
Third Tuesday Of The Month

Open To ALL......

Natural Resources Protective Association's Youth Program
Will run annually from March until December with the intent to teach New York City Youth
hands-on environmentalism and conservation with assistance from Protector's of Pine Oak Woods, North Shore Waterfront Conservancy, Staten Island Sport Divers, Fishermen's Conservation Association, Staten Island Tuna Club, Staten Island Yacht Club, Clean Ocean Action, Jamaica Bay Eco Watchers, Where To Turn, NYC Parks Dept. Urban Rangers and The Baykeeper of NY/NJ.

Youth Programs members will learn the marine ecology of New York Harbor, Raritan Bay & Jamaica Bay, Volunteer at Beach Clean-ups, and Wetland Restorations. Assist Protectors of Pine Oak Woods in Forest Restoration. Learn water sampling techniques, saltwater fishing techniques, Oyster Bed Restoration with The  Baykeeper of NY/NJ. Bird Counts with the New York Sierra Club, Night Time "Owl Walks" with POPOW, Assisting Scuba Divers with Staten Island Sport Divers, and many other exciting outdoor opportunities !

Members will have the opportunity monthly to volunteer with NRPA, Fishermen's Conservation Association, North Shore Waterfront Conservancy, Where To Turn and other civic groups to earn mandatory school volunteer credits. High School students will be taught how to advocate at the "Grassroots" level for laws to protect our local environment.

Some members will have the opportunity to learn saltwater fishing techniques with members of Fishermen's Conservation Association, Boat Handling and Sailing with Members of The Staten Island Yacht Club, Richmond County Yacht Club, and Great Kills Yacht Club,  as well as "Fishing The Rips" at Sandy Hook as they learn the importance of a clean and healthy Marine Environment.
