Bard Ave. Cleanup on August 17,

Members of the Natural Re-
ƐŽƵƌĐĞƐ WƌŽƚĞĐƟǀ Ğ ƐƐŽĐŝĂƟŽŶ

NRPA) joined forces to do a
cleanup of the Bard Ave. Blues-
treet (street end at a waterway,
designated for public use by NYC
ĞƉƚ͘
ŽĨ dƌĂŶƐƉŽƌƚĂƟŽŶͿ Ăƚ ZŝĐŚͲ
mond Terrace, on the Kill van Kull
on Saturday, August 17.
The six persons chopped over-
grown weeds and removed over
400
lbs. of debris, including bev-
erage containers, food packaging,
ŽůĚ Į ƐŚ ďĂŝƚ͕
ĚƌŝŌǁ ŽŽĚ͕
ƐŚŝƉƉŝŶŐ
pallets and broken appliances.
The team was organized by Ash-
ley Ryan and James Rossi of NYC
DEP.
Susan Wagner High School stu-
dents Argend and Arbend Duka
lead the team cleaning up the
debris from the guardrail along
Hunter Ave. Neighbors came out
to lend a hand with ice cold re-
freshments.

was removed. No one got poison
ivy. The group observed mal-
lards, snapping turtles and red
wing blackbirds.
NRPA will schedule another
cleanup in autumn 2013
